One Room Challenge (Spring 2020): Week 8, The Final Reveal

Welcome to the One Room Challenge Final Reveal! What an insane and rewarding 8 weeks *insert me screaming excitedly here*!

Before I jump into the details, lets recap:

• Week 1 was the introduction of the challenge with a walkthrough of what my home used to look like including a tour on NBC’s Open House NYC,

• Week 2 was a walkthrough of the vibe of the space with the moodboards, my must-haves and my wants, and my color palette,

• Week 3 was focused on the kitchen and included everything from my moodboard to specific products that I would be using,

• Week 4 was focused on my living room and we jumped into the juicy details,

• Week 5 was cancelled, thankfully, which you can read about in Week 6’s post,

• Week 6 was all about dining room details including my wallpaper and art selections, and

• Week 7 was dedicated to my powder room and entry with the moodboards in tow.

Kitchen:

Since we started with the Kitchen deep dive in Week 3, I thought we would start there. So welcome to the new heart of the home, even though I don’t cook we can still call it that (ha)! And let me just say that I LOVE it!! Here’s what I did, I kept my existing base cabinets but changed the hardware to Schaub’s Heathrow Collection in satin brass and replaced the countertop to Caesarstone’s Calacatta Nuvo 5131. Then the magic really started by having light electrical work done for a sconce and a light switch to be added, and having my upper cabinets painted Solstice (SW 9571) by Sherwin Williams, a color from their new Emerald Designer Collection. Then came the beautiful elongated tile from The Tile Shop,  the Ravenel faucet from build.com,  custom floating shelves, a custom roman shade, and some decorative items from 54kibo. The top layer of the cake is the Baltar Counter Stools from Bungalow 5 that EVERYONE that comes to my house is obsessed with. Lastly, I realized that it was worth the investment to update the range and microwave. Don’t worry, all the juicy details and product links are listed at the bottom of this post.

Dining Room:

As you may recall from prior posts, my first floor is open concept which includes my kitchen, dining room, and living room. So to keep with the flow of the actual space, let me bring you to the new Dining Room. And note that the dining room was all about giving guests an experience. With the color saturation and pattern of the Loloi x Justina Blakeney area rug, to the reupholstered dining chairs that is high on pattern and texture thank to the Imagine Natural fabric from Calico Corners, to the powerful brass base of the Bungalow 5 Stockholm Dining Table, to the Boho vibes of the wallpaper, I think mission accomplished. And don’t get me started on the bar featuring a brand new bar cart from Apt 2B and the Makeda print from Malene B that I had custom framed. Living Room:

I almost don’t want to introduce the living room because I think it’s sooooo good that it doesn’t need an introduction, ha! So I’ll save my thoughts for a few moments so you can scroll through the photos first.

The living room boiled down to comfort and style with a full gallery wall of art that includes art that I love and a vintage African shield, the MOST comfortable sofa from Bungalow 5 that I had reupholstered in Trend’s Violet Velvet, the Sloan Chair in blush from Interior Define, and the Preston sideboard from Apt 2B. This room was all about pattern, color, funk, and vibes. All links directly to these goodies and more are at the bottom of this post.

Entry Stairs and Shared Hallway:

I believe an entryway is very important because it’s the introduction to your home. You are literally setting the tone as soon as someone enters. I wanted to give big color to the front door, hide the very ugly ceramic tile in my shared hallway and move to something that was easily cleanable and removable (hello carpet tiles), and add a basket for shoes since I don’t allow shoes in my house. And I needed function, hence the extremely well needed EMPowered™ Motorized Touchscreen SMART Keypad by EMTEK to allow me to lock and unlock the door from my phone. This door leads from the shared hallway into my home starting with my entry stairs. The entry stairs which are now a Boho dream in a neutral wallpaper with ample vibes.
